
Mike Tripp
Mike has been teaching guitar and bass here at Circle
M Music since March, 2002. Mike has a rich musical history
beginning with piano lessons in the 2nd grade. He performed piano
recitals, played in school plays and programs, and played church
functions for the next 8 years. In the 6th grade he took up
trumpet. He went on to play in concert band, marching band, pep
band, jazz band, conference band, as well as solo and ensemble
competitions in high school. Mike was the first student at Knox
County High School to be awarded "Outstanding Soloist" at the Northeast
Missouri State Jazz Festival (1983). Mike also learned
flugelhorn, valve trombone, bariton, banjo, and bass.
Mike began with guitar at age 15. After
enlisting in the US Army he played guitar and bass in both on-post and
off-post club and dance bands on the east coast. After an Honorable
Discharge in 1991 he traveled the United States playing guitar and bass
in club bands and house bands and has opened for national country, blues,
and rock artists. Mike currently works in two bands in the
Kirksville area as a guitarist/singer -
BiscuitHead and the Aaron
Russell Band.
